British architects explore new opportunities in Brazilian market
The UK government is making several efforts to take British architecture to the Brazilian market, regarding new opportunities on major infrastructures related with the events of 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.
A British entourage is now in Brazil to make several contacts with key stakeholders. This group, led by the UK housing minister Mark Prisk, is composed by five representatives of high-profile architecture offices (Haworth Tompkins, Foster & Partners, Amanda Levete Architects, Avanti Architects and de Matos Ryan). The initiative UKBrazil Season is a six-month set of efforts (that began on September 2012) to approach British architects to this market.
Mark Prisk stated: “Brazilian companies in these cities are actively looking for fast-track construction systems, innovative building materials and low carbon solutions to meet current and future demand, not only in preparation for hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games but also to compete in the country’s many major infrastructure projects", said the minister Mark Prisk.
