DIMSCALE was present yesterday in the release event of the book "As roças de São Tomé e Princípe", written by the Portuguese architects Duarte Pape and Rodrigo Rebelo de Andrade. The event took place at Edifício Embaixada in Lisbon, a XIX palace that was recently rehabilitated and opened to the public as a commercial gallery.
"In "Roças of Sao Tome and Principe", the architects and researchers Duarte Pape and Rodrigo Rebelo de Andrade dedicated to the research and study of spaces and historic architecture of this archipelago. And reached indeed the most innovative, enlightened and multifaceted edition until today on this subject. The "roças" and its architecture are addressed here in its historical and geographical framework, in its origins and development, relations with society and the economy. And also, of course, specifically in architectural perspectives: typologies, urban plans, forms and materials. In their field trips, the authors were accompanied by photographer Francisco Nogueira."
