Porseg wins Red Dot Product Design award

The Portuguese company Porseg won the Red Dot Product Design 2013's award in the category of interiors design with its door "Plano". "Plano" is a security fireguard door that was developed by several departments of Porseg, in a project leaded by the R&D architects João Oliveira and Isabel Rebello de Andrade. From conception to production phase the project was concluded in just six months. Porseg will be in Essen (Germany) in July 1st to receive this award that is the most important one in the Design field at a worldwide level.

The door presents a very clean image, in which only the handle and the opening bar are visible and all the closing mechanisms are hidden. The door also presents excellent characteristics of fire resistance, accoustic insulation, water sealing, durability, wind endurance, air permeability, thermal transmission coefficient and crashworthiness.

This product was developed after a request made to Porseg by the Portuguese architect Carrilho da Graça for the Datacenter building of PT Comunicações in the city of Covilhã, Portugal. The first 300 units are already being produced by Porseg.

This is an example of how companies can invest in Research and Development as a way of differentiate their offer and be competitive in the international market, always beting on design and on high-quality solutions. Congratulations Porseg!
